Groundcare Machinery For Sale

Bowling green machinery for sale

Used, ex-demo and new bowling green machinery from approved UK dealers: pedestrian cylinder mowers, greens irons and rollers, scarifiers, aerators, top dressers and overseeders. Much of it comes off golf courses, where the same fine turf kit is traded in regularly, so a good used machine is often within a club's budget.

Golf greens mowers on a bowling green

A pedestrian greens mower from a golf course is the same machine many bowling clubs want, and courses replace them on a regular cycle, so there are usually some on the market. Check the width suits your rinks and ditches, that the height of cut goes as low as you need, and that the grass box, transport wheels and any groomer or verticut cassettes are included.

Cylinders and bottom blades

The cut on a bowling green shows every fault in the cylinder. Ask when the cylinder and bottom blade were last ground or replaced, how many blades the cylinder has, and whether the rollers and bearings are worn. A sharp, well set unit on an older machine will give a better finish than a newer one that needs a regrind.

Rollers and greens irons

Rolling improves pace and trueness without cutting lower. On a self-propelled roller, check that it starts and drives cleanly in both directions, that the drums are free of dents and the scrapers are sound, and that the steering is light. Ask the weight and working width, as both matter for a bowling green.

Buying from a dealer

Every seller here is an approved UK dealer, checked against Companies House or HMRC before they can list. Dealers usually service and set up a machine before delivery, can often take a part exchange, and should tell you plainly whether the price is plus VAT. We never take payment ourselves: you deal with the dealer directly.

Questions

Can a bowling club use a second-hand golf greens mower?
Yes, and many do. Pedestrian greens mowers built for golf greens cut at the heights a bowling green needs. Check the cutting width, the lowest height of cut and the condition of the cylinder, and ask the dealer to set it up before delivery.
What machinery does a bowling club need?
At the least, a pedestrian cylinder mower, a way to scarify and aerate for autumn renovation, a spreader for feed, and a roller or greens iron. Clubs often share or hire the renovation kit and own the mower outright.
Are prices shown plus VAT?
Each listing says whether its price is plus VAT, includes VAT, or has no VAT to add. Search and price filters compare prices excluding VAT, so plus-VAT and VAT-inclusive listings sort fairly against each other.
Can I get an alert when a machine I want is listed?
Yes. Search for what you need, for example Dennis or Allett cylinder mowers, and save the search. We email you when a matching machine is listed.
