Buying used log splitters
Log splitters use a hydraulic ram to split rounds into firewood. Electric models suit lighter work, petrol models work away from mains power, and PTO models run from a tractor for high output.
Check the hydraulic ram, hoses and pump for leaks, and the wedge for damage. On engine models, check that it starts cleanly and ask about service history. Make sure the two-handed controls and guards work.
