Fairway mowers for sale

Buying used fairway mowers

Fairway mowers are large ride-on cylinder mowers, usually with five cutting units, that do a lot of hours each season. Engine hours and service history are the first things to check. Look at each cutting unit for cylinder and bedknife wear, and check the lift arms, hoses and couplings for play and leaks.

Four-wheel drive is worth having on undulating courses. Also check the tyres, since turf tyres wear and are expensive to replace as a set, and look at the condition of the seat, controls and cab or ROPS if fitted.

Common makes include Toro, John Deere, Jacobsen, Ransomes and Baroness. Use the year and engine hours filters to compare similar machines, and ask the dealer whether the units have been ground recently.
