Buying used rough mowers

Check engine hours and service history first. On rotary decks, look for cracks, rust and repairs, check the blades and spindle bearings, and listen for noisy gearboxes or belts. Rough mowers often work on slopes, so four-wheel drive, tyre condition and brakes matter. Look over the hydraulic hoses and deck motors for leaks.
